Overview
This Privacy Policy covers how LessLens ("we", "us") handles your information when you use the LessLens app for iPhone, our websites (lesslens.com and business.lesslens.com), the LessLens virtual try-on in your browser, and the LessLens try-on button that eyewear stores embed on their own product pages.
The iPhone app
Your in-app settings and preferences are not personal and are stored only on your device. We do not run our own servers that store your personal information. However, to understand how the app is used, to measure marketing performance, and to keep the app free, we and the third-party services listed below collect a limited amount of data, including a device identifier (such as Apple's advertising identifier / IDFA and vendor identifier) and product-interaction data (for example, which screens and features you use). We do not collect your name, email, contacts, or precise location.
Photos, scans and images
We use the functionality of your device’s TrueDepth sensor to take a scan of your face and derive the specific measurements to optimally display a model of glasses or sunglasses on your face. This processing happens locally on your device using Apple's ARKit. We do not upload, store, or share those photos, scans, images, or any facial data captured in the facial scans with any third parties.
Third-party services and analytics
In the iPhone app we use the following third-party services, which may collect a device identifier and usage data under their own privacy policies:
- AppsFlyer and Tenjin — marketing attribution (measuring which ad or channel led you to install the app).
- Mixpanel — product analytics (how features are used).
Our websites do not use Google Analytics or Google Tag Manager.
Advertising and App Tracking Transparency
On iOS we ask for your permission through Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt before using your device's advertising identifier to measure advertising and show you more relevant ads for LessLens in other apps and websites. If you decline, we do not use that identifier to track you across apps and websites. You can change this at any time in your device Settings under Privacy & Security → Tracking.
Affiliate links
The app and website contain affiliate links to retailers such as Amazon. When you follow a link and make a purchase, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Those retailers process your activity on their own sites under their own privacy policies and may set their own cookies.
Our websites
lesslens.com and business.lesslens.com are static websites served by our hosting provider, which keeps standard server logs (such as IP address, browser type and the pages requested) for security and operations. Our websites set no cookies and load no analytics or advertising scripts, so we do not show a cookie banner. Interactive parts of the pages (for example, the video and 3D demonstrations) run entirely in your browser.
Virtual try-on in the browser
On our demo pages, and in stores that embed the LessLens button, you can try frames on using your device’s camera. The camera turns on only after you start a try-on and your browser asks for permission. The camera image is processed on your device, inside your browser: the face-tracking model runs locally, and no video or photos are uploaded to us or to anyone else. Closing the try-on stops the camera.
To show the frame, your browser downloads the 3D model and lighting data from our content delivery network, the same way it downloads images on any web page; our servers receive your IP address as part of that request. The QR code offered on desktop contains only the address of the page and the selected frame, so the same frame opens on your phone. On iPhone, the try-on opens in Apple's AR Quick Look, which handles the camera on your device under Apple's terms.
Pilot requests
If you ask us about a pilot for your store, we collect what you enter in the form: your name, work email, store address, and optionally your e-commerce platform, the size of your catalog and a note. This information is delivered to our team through a private internal notification channel and email so that we can reply, check whether your platform and frames fit, and prepare a proposal. We use it for that purpose only; we do not sell it or share it for marketing.
We keep pilot requests for as long as we need to follow up on them and then delete them; you can ask us to delete yours at any time. If you choose to book a call after sending the form, the booking is handled by Calendly under its own privacy policy; we pass along the name and email you entered so you do not have to type them again.
The LessLens button on partner stores
Eyewear stores can add a LessLens "Virtual Try-on" button to their product pages. The button and the try-on it opens are loaded from our servers, and the camera principles above apply: face tracking runs in your browser and no camera images reach us. We do not receive your name, your order, or your account details from the store; the store’s own website and privacy policy govern everything else you do there.
Children’s privacy
Our Service does not address anyone under the age of 13 (“Children”). We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and you are aware that your Child has provided us with Personal Information, please contact us. If we discover that a Child under 13 has provided us with Personal Information, we will delete such information from our servers immediately.
Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes. Changes to this Privacy Policy are effective when they are posted on this page.
Deleting your data
You can request the deletion of your data at any time by contacting us by email.
